GE Posts Solid Second Q2 2008 Performance

GE recently announced second quarter 2008 earnings from continuing operations of US$5.4 billion with US$0.54 per share. In all, second quarter revenues from continuing operations was up 11% while total organic revenue growth stands at 5%, generated by broad-based services and global market demand in sectors such as healthcare, from which GE Healthcare IT posted an improved 8% segment profit growth.
GE Takes Pulse of Asia Healthcare Business

Clarence Wu, Vice President and General Manager at GE Healthcare, shared with Reuters in an interview recently that governments and private firms in China, Japan and Korea were expected to invest heavily on enhancing healthcare provision in coming years. "We are seeing a sustained high growth essentially across the region," Wu said, “Last year, Asia contributed $1.8 billion to $2 billion revenue to GE Healthcare."
GE's New Generation of Clinical and Healthcare Integrated Approach

In a separate interview, Clarence Wu also touched on the value of Centricity Enterprise and the GE Solution value to healthcare institutions such as Intermountain Health. Wu also revealed that GE plans to introduce the system to emergency services, together with documentation management in partnership with EMC & Cisco.
GE Healthcare IT extends Collaboration with HP on Solutions for Midsize Hospitals and Developing Countries

GE Healthcare IT recently announced an extended collaboration with HP to offer pre-configured, pre-installed GE Centricity® Enterprise software on HP Integrity NonStop servers. GE Healthcare IT is also currently collaborating with HP to pilot a low-cost solution for new hospitals in the Gulf region and expects to begin marketing this globally in the second half of 2008.
GE Healthcare sponsors International PACS and Teleradiology Symposium in Bangalore, India

More than 25 distinguished industry professionals from India, Malaysia and Singapore congregated in Bangalore to attend the 2nd International PACS & Teleradiology Symposium from April 4-5 2008. The 2-day event was organized by India-based Teleradiology Solutions, US-based Otech Inc. and aims to spread greater awareness on teleradiology and PACS in Asia and beyond.
GE and Satyam announce Global Alliance to provide Healthcare IT Services

Satyam Computer Services Ltd., a leading global consulting and information technology services provider, and GE Healthcare IT has announced a comprehensive agreement to co-develop and support solutions aimed for global healthcare providers of all sizes, ranging from the smallest polyclinics to largest hospitals. As part of the alliance, the two companies will expand globally from their existing developments in India and the Middle East. Additionally, the companies will staff a demonstration centre of the "hospital of the future" in Qatar to highlight their shared vision and advanced capabilities.
