Next wave in Healthcare IT
GE Healthcare IT's Director of International Marketing, Enterprise Solutions Group Greg Saint James spoke to Malaysian paper New Straits Times on the importance and relevance of GE's Early Health initiative in an interview published in June 2009.
According to Greg, GE's concept of Early Health promotes the idea of early detection and prevention, and at the heart of Early Health is the next wave of healthcare IT, where best practices are incorporated into software to help guide professionals in making informed decisions about patients' health.
"Traditionally, Healthcare IT involves automating healthcare processes such as registering, billing and recording," said Greg Saint James, GE Healthcare IT's Director of International Marketing, Enterprise Solutions Group. "We are now at a transition where healthcare IT is actually implemented to improve healthcare itself. A high amount of data is being produced and analysed to extract best practices that can deliver immediate impact to healthcare. This can result in a higher level of safety for patients and less mistakes made."
Greg also shed light on GE Healthcare's latest initiatives Digital Day One, high performance healthcare and how GE Healthcare is looking to build more partnerships for healthcare IT development within the Asia Pacific region.
