Footprints in Asia KOREA: GE Healthcare Launches Centricity® PACS-IW In Major Korea Medical Congress GE Healthcare is pleased to announce the successful launch of Centricity® PACS-IW at the Korean Society of Nuclear Medicine Fall Symposium, which was held from Oct.30th~31st 2009 at the Asan Medical Center, one of the largest general hospitals in Korea. More than 800 industry professionals, including doctors and medical technicians, attended the symposium and were privy to a live demo session of Centricity® PACS-IW, which also features the latest Barco monitors, by GE Healthcare International Application Specialist Ken Ayars.
Footprints in Asia Singapore: GE Healthcare Hosts Healthcare Roundtable Discussions In a bid to promote the dynamic exchange of information in healthcare best practices today, GE Healthcare organized a healthcare roundtable discussion at the Singapore Marriot Hotel on 7th October 2009.
 
Held in conjunction with the Ubiquitous Health Forum 2009 and moderated by Dr. Eugene Hong, the key topic that was discussed was Chronic Disease Management, with the event being interspersed with notable guest presentations from leaders of the international healthcare industry, who were in town with select members of Singapore’s healthcare IT sector.

These international guests, which include Blair Butterfield, GE Healthcare IT’s Vice President of Connectivity Solutions; as well as Marc Probst, who is not only CIO & Vice President of Intermountain Healthcare but also a member of the US Federal Healthcare Information Technology Policy Committee, cap the event’s goal of mapping current challenges as well as advancements in the area of Chronic Disease Management, extending information mindshare within the healthcare industry.
Footprints in Asia CHINA: China Medical Advisory Board (MAB) 2009 Kicks Off To A Great Start GE Healthcare IT is proud to announce the successful conclusion of the China Medical Advisory Board (MAB) 2009 conference, which took place from 7th – 8th November 2009 at the Wyndham Xiamen China Hotel in Xiamen, China.

Over 50 medical professionals from across China’s numerous provinces attended the event, which featured notable speakers such as the executive vice-chairman of Chinese Hospital Information Management Association (CHIMA) Li Baoluo, GE Healthcare IT’s global product general manager Don Woodlock and global product system architect Bao Yongjian, among others.

Together with support from partners Barco, EMC and Intel, GE Healthcare further took the opportunity to showcase our healthymagination initiative together with our One Desktop, One Patient, One Community approach to an appreciative audience, along with a host of eHealth advances such as CAD and Centricity® PACS capabilities.

Additionally, GE Healthcare’s three Centricity® PACS IB customers, BJ People Hospital, Qingdao MUH, and FJ Province Hospital were on hand to share their positive experiences with GE HCIT solutions.
CHINA: GE Healthcare And Its Partners Launch Major Stroke Campaign With The Support From China’s Ministry Of Health GE Healthcare and China’s Ministry of Health announced recently the official kick-off of the “Stroke Prevention and Control Project”. Organized by the Chinese Association of Geriatrics Research, the Chinese Health Development Foundation and GE Healthcare, the project aims to build a national stroke prevention and control network in China in an effort to reduce stroke incidence and mortality rates, improve people's health and quality of life as well as to reduce the stroke-related cost burden for the country. view more
CHINA: GE Healthcare Participates In The Creation Of China Breast Cancer Foundation’s Regional Screening Network In Sichuan Province GE Healthcare recently announced today its participation in a three year project to establish a regional breast-cancer screening network in Deyang, a city in China’s earthquake-stricken Sichuan province, and its surrounding counties.

Through its partnership with China Breast Cancer Foundation and several other organizations such as the Avon Foundation For Women and Give2Asia Foundation, who together are donating US$5 million to the project, GE Healthcare will provide medical equipment and training resources to help create a network that aims to increase the access to breast cancer screening, diagnosis and treatment, including remote diagnosis for more rural areas.

Additionally, the breast cancer screening network will offer training to doctors and information on breast cancer to the general public, and will collect data for scientific research.

CHINA: GE Healthcare Makes Inroads Into China International Medical Equipment Fair (CMEF) Chengdu Held from Oct 28th to 31st 2009, CMEF Chengdu is one of the four biggest medical exhibitions in mainland China and boasts of an impressive turnout of customers and vendors annually. At CMEF, GE Healthcare was on hand to showcase five GE Healthcare solutions. Among these was our eHealth Solutions, which drew significant numbers of system integrators and partners. GE’s current regional solutions based on Centricity® PACS/RISi/Telemedicine, which covered both GE CT and DXR modalities, also drew significant interest from attendees.
CHINA: GE Healthcare Shines At China's Centricity® PACS Forum 2009 The China PACS Forum 2009, which was held during from Oct 28th to 31st 2009 in Changdu, saw GE Healthcare present our regional PACS/RISi solution based on the EA/RISi/OPUS/Telemedicine platform together with key PACS vendors such as Siemens, Carestream and Huahai to over 200 forum participants. The event, which was hosted by both the previous and current presidents of the China Radiology Association, Dai Jianpin and Guo Qiyong, also allowed GE Healthcare the opportunity to make a powerful case for regional Centricity® RISi/PACS efficiency with a case study testimonial entitled “Zhang Damin’s Hospitalization between rural and central hospitals”.
INDIA: eHealth India 2009 a Resounding Success! Organized by the Department of Information Technology, Ministry of Communications and IT under the banner of India’s National e-Governance Plan, eHealth India 2009 took place from 25th to 27th August 2009 at the Hyderabad International Convention Center.

The event not only focused on key issues such as India’s national health IT infrastructure but also delved into advanced discussion of healthcare reforms through IT as well as technology standards and interoperability.

As the Associate Sponsor of the event, GE Healthcare was on hand to showcase our solutions and technology to leading delegates from India’s medical industry, which included key executives from leading healthcare organizations as well as central & state health officials & policy makers.
India: GE Healthcare’s Initiatives To Expand IT Business GE Healthcare has unveiled its new initiatives in the Indian healthcare IT sector as part of its expansion strategy.

Aiming to eliminate upfront capital investment in hospital IT solutions, GE Healthcare introduced “Managed Solutions”, the first of these initiatives, which would target providers who required integration across multiple locations or planned to expand.

“We still lack the infrastructure to enable more unified access across our rural and urban communities. But we believe the unique "managed" business model will help transform the way healthcare is delivered in India," says V. Raja, president & chief executive officer of GE Healthcare South Asia.

Already GE Healthcare, which was looking to introduce its “managed solutions” in diagnostic centres, government and private hospitals, has entered into its first “managed” Indian partnership with DCA Imaging Centre, New Delhi, which boasts of five connected imaging centres across the country.

GE Healthcare also officially launched Centricity® PACS-IW in India in a move that will deliver remote accessibility for radiologists to review images remotely in addition to instantaneous reporting on true DICOM datasets, reducing overall healthcare costs.
